About Kelly
Kelly serves as Director of Program and Special Education, shaping how DivergentCents designs supports that are genuinely accessible to neurodivergent people and the families who care for them. She is the founder of Mertens Educational Consulting and an Administrator of Special Education with more than eleven years in the field.
Her consulting practice supports more than sixty school districts, and she holds faculty roles at Boston University, Salem State University, and Stonehill College, teaching curriculum and assessment in special education and mentoring new teachers. She is licensed as an Administrator of Special Education, Principal, and Superintendent, and studied at Union College. Kelly’s expertise in inclusive, individualized instruction keeps the program centered on how people actually learn.
